Talent, fashion and personality were on display in the John C. Birdlebough High School auditorium recently as 13 students vied for the title of Mr. Phoenix.
The male pageant, which served as a fundraiser for the sophomore class, yielded plenty of laughter throughout the evening. A panel of judges assessed each participant in three categories: talent, evening wear and interview skills.
While each contestant brought their unique flair and abilities to the stage, senior Derick White’s performance on the cow bell and his quirky attire in the evening wear round gave him an edge over the other contestants. White accepted the crown as Mr. Phoenix 2016 and was congratulated by his fellow competitors.
Other students who participated in the competition were Austin Wirth, John Garofalo, Dan Frawley, Conrad Karl, Josh Dievendorf, Mike Sadoski, Alex Brutcher, Alan Ashby, Garrett Frink,
Josh Margrey, Zach Thompson and Zach Neupert.
